HLTAID009 - first aid and HLTAID0011 -CPR

Unit Description

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response

to a casualty, including the ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in

line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council

(ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.

The units apply to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response

and recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies in a range of situations,

including community and workplace settings. 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no formal entry requirements. A language, literacy, and numeracy

assessment appropriate to this level forms part of the enrolment process.

TRAINING VENUE

3/2 Phipps Close, Deakin ACT


The trainer is provided with all learning equipment requirements (first aid kits,

bandages, mannequins, and all unit requirements).

MODE OF DELIVERY

  •  Classroom: All training will be delivered face-to-face within a classroom.
  • Self-Paced: Students are required to undertake activities outside of the classroom, specifically pre-reading and theory/written assessments as part of course requirements.

DELIVERY STRUCTURE AND SUPERVISION

  • No. of students per class: Maximum 12
  • Classroom: 1 session of 8 hours, including 6 hours of training, 1 hour of practical practice, and 1 hour for assessment.
  • Self-Paced Theory Assessment: 4 hours
  •  Pre-Reading Allowance: 4 hours
  • TOTAL HOURS: 16 hours

ASSESSMENT METHODS

  • Observation/Practical Skills: Observation techniques identify students’ competence against performance criteria. Assessors use an Observation

CHECKLIST DURING PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT.

  • Written: Open-book theory assessment provided with pre-reading. Students must complete and submit it prior to the practical session.
  • Case Studies: Scenario-based examples within the theory assessment allow learners to apply knowledge in context.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING (RPL)

  • Trained Up does not offer RPL for this unit.
  • Students who have completed this unit may apply for Credit Transfer if enrolled in qualifications offered by the institute including this unit.

CREDIT TRANSFER

  • Trained Up has a clear Credit Transfer process outlined in the Policy on Credit Transfer.
  • Prospective students are made aware of the policy prior to enrolment via discussions, the Student Handbook, and/or the Trained Up website.
  • Students are encouraged to apply for Credit Transfer before or immediately after enrolment to ensure they do not miss any class/workshop opportunities.
  • Students are given an individual strategy document showing the units they need to complete and methods for learning and assessment.

COURSE FEE

Tuition Fees, Payment Plans, and Booking Terms:

  • Fee for Service: $119, inclusive of all learning materials, assessment tasks, trainer/assessor communication, and Statement of Attainment upon completion.

Booking Terms:

  • Course fees for short courses are due at least 7 days prior to commencement.

Refunds

  • Requested 7+ days prior: Full refund
  • Requested within 7 days: 50% refundable
  • Requested after commencement: No refund
